The wines from Hahndorf Hill Winery display all the finesse and complexity for which the Adelaide Hills wine region is renowned, yet they also exhibit a striking individuality reflective of our special terroir and viticultural practices. Our vines are rooted in a loamy mix of blue slate, quartz and ironstone, and they benefit from our meticulous canopy management and yield control regimen.

This is our third vintage of this new-wave, food-friendly Austrian variety, which we're pioneering in the Adelaide Hills. Three separate fermentations were done with different yeasts - including wild ferments in old barriques - to enhance both complexity and the important textural components. Complex nose of orange peel, stone fruit, root vegetable and struck flint-stone. Full and round on the mouth, yet beautifully balanced with gentle pineapple notes and a core of zesty citrus. Continuously textural with a crystalline purity, a gritty edge of nectarine pip and a salty, slatey mineral tail.

Brand new vintage 2012 has oodles of zesty mandarin, nectarine and pear aromas. Beautifully fresh on the palate with a generous mouthful of stone fruit and nectarines. Smooth, fresh and intense, this vibrant wine is made for the long, hot nights of summer and is perfectly matched with a pan-grilled barramundi drizzled with lime juice, or with a ginger-crusted pork fillet served on a crunchy mixed-leaf salad.

Beautifully fresh and vibrant with zesty citrus and decadent butter-croissant aromas on the nose. Full and rich on the palate with lychees, almonds and a long, sexy citrus tail. The grapes were barrel fermented in French oak with 30% wild ferment and then allowed to mature on the lees for nine months before bottling. Delicious with Cajun-style calamari or pan-grilled quail with ginger marinade.

Zweigelt is a unique Austrian red grape variety which is used to make a range of beautiful table wines. This is the first time that Zweigelt has been produced in Australia. Our 'Zsa Zsa' rosé was made from hand-harvested Zweigelt grapes which were gently crushed and then allowed several hour's skin contact to produce the beautiful pomegranate-like hue. The juice was then wild fermented in old French oak barrels.
The nose is loaded with freshly crushed cherries and melon and it is full and unctuous on the palate - yet perfectly balanced by a vibrant, flinty mouthful of cherries and crushed pomegranate pips. It is rounded off by an extraordinary mineral component with a rich textural finish.
This is a rosé for rare roast beef!

Blaufrankisch is a red grape variety that produces wines of superb quality in its homeland of Austria, where it ranks as the pre-eminent grape in the red wine province of Burgenland. UK wine guru Jancis Robinson has referred to this blueblooded varietal as the 'Pinot Noir of Eastern Europe'. Hahndorf Hill Winery is currently the only producer of Blaufrankisch in Australia. This 2010 vintage has produced a wine of great suppleness and elegance, with a gentle tumble of spice, dark cherries, blueberries, violets and fennel - plus a juicy acidity. It has excellent structure on the palate. The wine is perfectly matched with duck, quail, lamb and venison - and if you ever need to enjoy a red with your favourite seafood, this is it!

Gorgeous garnet colour with rich plums, cranberries and dark chocolate on the nose. The palate is super silky and composed of a medley of red berries, earthy dark chocolate and excellent structure. The wine was aged in predominantly French oak for 11 months prior to bottling. Serve this beautiful wine with rare roast beef or pan-seared venison fillet.
