'It's quietly spoken and talks strawberry and fennel dusted with spice. Light, but fleshy, with perfect acidity, a gentle powdery texture, and the carry of ripe red fruits, with a suggestion of something a bit exotic and perfumed whispering away. Lovely.'

Zweigelt - Zsa Zsa Rosé 2015  |  $25 per bottle

Silver Medal - Australian Small Winemakers Show 2015

Tasting notes: This is our fourth production of Zweigelt, Austria's most popular native red variety. The grapes were hand harvested and then destemmed and crushed. The juice was left on the skins for several hours to pick up colour and texture and then transferred to very old barrels. Wild fermentation was allowed to take place and the wine was finally transferred to stainless steel tank just prior to fermenting bone dry. It was then left on the gross lees for a few weeks prior to bottling.

The colour has a gorgeous watermelon-juice hue and the nose has fresh cherries and melon aromas. It is full and unctuous on the palate but perfectly balanced by a vibrant, flinty mouthful of cherries, crushed pomegranate pips and gentle spicy cloves. It is rounded off by an extraordinary mineral component with a rich textural finish. This bold wine is perfectly matched to all seafood and meat dishes - but also has a wonderful affinity for all tomato-based dishes, including raw tomato!
