Tasting notes: At Hahndorf Hill we produce four different styles of Gruner, of which Gru is our classic style. Our previous vintages of Gru Gruner Veltliner have been highly awarded, including the 2019 Gru Gruner Veltliner, which was rated the best Gruner Veltliner at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2020, and also the 2020 vintage which was the top-rated Gruner Veltliner at the London Wine Competition 2021. Now try this beautiful 2021 vintage with its enticingly perfumed nose of lime peel, mandarin and deliciously ripe stone fruit . The palate is vibrant with a long juicy acidity, ruby grapefruit and a hint of guava. The wine has exceptional mouth-presence and finishes long with an exciting textural twist. Perfectly matched with all Asian cuisine, white meats, sea-foods and vegetarian dishes. But most excitingly, here is the ultimate white wine that will match perfectly with your favourite rare sirloin steak!
Gruner Veltliner is a variety that ages well and this wine should develop splendidly for between 8 - 10 years.

Rating: Outstanding - Clive Hartley's 'Australian Wine Guide'
'Full bodied style that provides another expression of this grape variety. In my books it's a smaragd style and so the richest expression and that is fitting for this outstanding wine.'
Silver Medal - AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge 2020, Austria

Tasting notes: This is the fifth vintage of our Reserve Gruner Veltliner which takes its inspiration from the Reserve style Gruners in the Kamptal wine region of Austria. Made from selected, hand-harvested riper grapes, this wine is 100% wild-fermented in neutral large foudres and old French barriques. The wine is then aged on the lees, in the barrels, for 11 months prior to bottling. After bottling, the wine is aged a further 12 months in our cool underground cellar. As with other noble white varieties such as Chardonnay, this Reserve Gruner Veltliner has the ability to mature and develop for many years. Full, voluptuous and complex on the nose, it is brimming with caramelized orange peel, lightly toasted cashew nuts and a hint of crushed tarragon. The palate has great presence, yet retains an exciting vibrancy with rich citrus, glorious texture and charming spice, plus a hint of mushroom-earthy complexity. It has a long tail with deliciously juicy acidity. Serve with roast chicken, duck and grilled pork, or your favourite sea-food including shellfish (lobster, crab, scallops) and excellent with spicy Asian cuisine.

Green Angel Gruner Veltliner Late Harvest 2021 | $35 per bottle

Berliner Grand Gold Medal - Berliner Wine Trophy 2022, Germany
96 Points - Winestate Magazine
Silver Medal- Royal Queensland Wine Awards 2022
Silver Medal - International Cool Climate Wine Show 2022

Tasting notes: This deliciously delicate late-harvest wine gets its name from the Austrian word 'Gruner' which means 'green'. The grapes for this wine are allowed a very extended period of ripening, during which the berries shrivel and thereby concentrate the flavour, the sugar and the natural acidity. Since the climatic conditions required to achieve this are quite specific, this wine will only be made in exceptional years. The juice is fermented till the desired alcohol level is achieved, leaving a residual amount of sugar in the wine. This residual sweetness is kept in balance by a high natural acidity. The rich yet delicate nose is layered with spice, lemon zest, poached pear and meringue. The palate is unctuous yet lively with fresh citrus, delicate poached fruits, white pepper and a lively long tail. Perfectly matched to your favourite dessert, all chocolate and a runny, ripe brie cheese! This wine will age and develop well for 30 - 40 years.

pH: 3.02 - TA: 8.7g/L - Residual sugar: 122g/L - Alcohol: 10.5%
Serve 8-10° C.
