'Ginger blossom and citrus fruits, gentle spice. Delicious and exciting! A great example of the style.'

Tasting notes: Our Gru Gruner Veltliner was rated the best Gruner Veltliner in the world outside of Austria in the 2013 International Gruner Veltliner Tasting held by Falstaff magazine in Vienna. And again in Austria in the 2019 Global Gruner Challenge held by Vinaria magazine, it was rated as the joint top-rated example outside of Austria, together with another winner from Germany. Now try the beautiful new vintage 2019 Gru! At Hahndorf Hill we produce four different styles of Gruner, of which Gru is our classic style. This savoury beauty has an enticing nose of citrus, nectarine and spice with a wonderfully vibrant palate of stone fruit, grapefruit and an unctuous citrus core that is offset by a long, slatey mineral tail and the all-important gentle rub of texture. Perfectly matched with all Asian cuisine, white meats, sea-foods and vegetarian dishes. But most excitingly, here is the ultimate white wine that will match perfectly with your favourite rare sirloin steak!
Gruner Veltliner is a variety that ages well and this wine should develop splendidly for between 7 - 10 years.

Reserve Gruner Veltliner 2017 | $45 per bottle

Gold Medal - Berliner Wein Trophy 2019, Germany
Gold Medal - Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show 2019
96 Points - James Suckling, Australia Report 2019, jamessuckling.com
'This is very serious with sliced apples, some lemons and slate and stony notes. Seaweed and sea salt, too. Full body. Zingy and intense. Super complexity and intensity.'

Tasting notes: This is the fourth vintage of our Reserve Gruner Veltliner which takes its inspiration from the Reserve style Gruners in the Kamptal wine region of Austria. Made from selected, riper grapes, this wine is 100% wild-fermented in old French barrels and is then aged on the lees, in the barrels, for 11 months prior to bottling. After bottling the wine is then aged a further 18 months in our cool underground cellar. As with other noble varieties such as Chardonnay, this Reserve Gruner Veltliner has the ability to mature and develop for many years. Intense and complex on the nose with caramelized orange peel, citrus, glazed pineapple and crushed tarragon. The palate is full with great presence, yet equally manages to retain a lively, zingy line of citrus and appealing mineral/ slate notes. Serve with grilled white meats, your favourite sea-food and spicy Asian cuisine. This wine can be aged till 2027.

pH: 3.33 - TA: 5.87g/L - Residual sugar: 1.1g/L - Alcohol: 13.0%

Green Angel Gruner Veltliner Late Harvest 2018 | $35 per bottle

Gold Medal - Australian Small Winemakers Show 2018
Silver Medal - AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge 2019, Austria
Silver Medal - International Wine Challenge 2019, London

Tasting notes: This is the second vintage of our dessert wine - the Green Angel Gruner Veltliner Late Harvest. The wine gets its name from the Austrian word 'Gruner' which means 'green'. The grapes for this wine are allowed a very extended period of ripening, during which the berries shrivel and thereby concentrate the flavour, the sugar and the natural acidity. Since the climatic conditions required to achieve this are quite specific, this wine will only be made in exceptional years. The juice is fermented till the desired alcohol level is achieved, leaving a residual amount of sugar in the wine. This residual sweetness is kept in balance by a high natural acidity. The rich yet delicate nose is layered with spice, lemon zest, poached pear and meringue. The palate is unctuous yet lively with fresh citrus, delicate poached fruits, white pepper and a lively long tail. Perfectly matched to your favourite dessert, all chocolate and a runny, ripe brie cheese! This wine will age and develop well for 30 - 40 years.

pH: 3.05 - TA: 8.2g/L - Residual sugar: 131.00g/L - Alcohol: 10.5%
