Gold Medal - Berliner Wein Trophy 2018, Germany

'There's texture, there's grip, there's flavour and there's length. The quality is high, the price is a steal. It tastes of grapefruit, pepper, apple, pine needles and citrus, but mostly it just tastes characterful. I pretty much love this wine.'
92 Points - Huon Hooke, Gourmet Traveller Wine
'Hahndorf Hill are the Australian leaders with this Austrian grape. The fresh, discreet aroma suggests lemon, fresh herbs, pepper and floral notes. In the mouth, it's delicate, yet also intense. The texture is fine and crisp with a juicy lemon aftertaste. Very refreshing.'

Tasting notes: Our Gru Gruner Veltliner was rated the best Gruner Veltliner in the world outside of Austria in the 2013 International Gruner Veltliner Tasting held by Falstaff magazine in Vienna. Now try the equally beautiful 2017 Gru! This savoury beauty has an enticing nose of citrus, nectarine and spice with a wonderfully vibrant palate of stone fruit, grapefruit and an unctuous citrus core that is offset by a long, slatey mineral tail and the all-important gentle rub of texture. Perfectly matched with all Asian cuisine, white meats, sea-foods and vegetarian dishes. But most excitingly, here is the ultimate white wine that will match perfectly with your favourite rare sirloin steak!
Gruner Veltliner is a variety that ages well and this wine should develop splendidly for between 7 - 10 years.

Green Angel Gruner Veltliner Late Harvest 2016 | $35 per bottle

Gold Medal - Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show 2017
Silver Medal - AWC Vienna International Wine Challenge 2017, Austria
Silver Outstanding Medal - International Wine & Spirit Competition 2017, UK
94 Points - James Halliday
'... has an explosive build-up of white pepper and fresh ginger on the aftertaste.'

Tasting notes: This is the maiden vintage of our first ever dessert wine - the Green Angel Gruner Veltliner Late Harvest. The wine gets its name from the Austrian word 'Gruner' which means 'green'. The grapes for this wine are allowed a very extended period of ripening, during which the berries shrivel and thereby concentrate the flavour, the sugar and the natural acidity. Since the climatic conditions required to achieve this are quite specific, this wine will only be made in exceptional years. The juice is fermented till the desired alcohol level is achieved, leaving a residual amount of sugar in the wine. This residual sweetness is kept in balance by a high natural acidity. The rich yet delicate nose is layered with spice, lemon zest, poached pear and meringue. The palate is unctuous yet lively with fresh citrus, poached fruits, white pepper and a lively long tail. Perfectly matched to your favourite dessert, all chocolate and a runny, ripe brie cheese! This wine will age and develop well for 30 - 40 years.

pH: 3.10 - TA: 8.6g/L - Residual sugar: 170.00g/L - Alcohol: 10.5%
Serve 8-10° C.
